FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Adopting Angel Questions
I adopted a family. What’s next?
The first step after adopting your family is to contact the Nominating Partner. Their information will now be available when you log in to your account. It’s best to communicate early in the process to ensure you have clear delivery instructions and can get any family questions answered.
How do I contact the family or Nominating Partner?
Please contact the Nominating Partner. You can find their contact information when you log in to your account and view your family’s information. The Nominating Partner can assist with any questions you have, provide family contact information (if they opted to allow contact), and facilitate gift delivery to the family (if they chose no contact).
What if I have questions about the gifts listed on the Family Wishlist?
If you require more details or have questions about the items on the Family Wishlist, please contact the Nominating Partner who works with your adopted family. They can communicate directly with the adopted family and provide you with any missing information.
Do I need to wrap the gifts?
Please wrap and clearly label the gifts for each family member. If you cannot wrap your gifts, we would appreciate a donation of gift-wrapping materials.
Can I deliver gifts to my adopted family/families?
Yes, but only if your adopted family is labeled as ‘Allows Contact” and therefore willing to accept gifts delivered to their home directly by their Adopting Angel. Please contact the Nominating Partner if you have any questions.
What if I can’t deliver gifts to my adopted family or follow through with my adoption?
If you are unable to deliver gifts to your adopted family or Nominating Partner or cannot follow through with your adoption, please contact us immediately. We will need to make other arrangements for gift delivery or assign another Adopting Angel to the family as soon as possible.
Can my gift donations be anonymous?
Yes, if you would like to remain anonymous, please let the Nominating Partner know. You will need to contact the Nominating Partner to arrange a time and place to deliver the gifts—preferably at least 10 days before Christmas.
When and where should I deliver gifts?
If you are delivering gifts to your adopted family directly, please coordinate a delivery time preferably 10 days before Christmas. Please make sure that all parties are aware of when and where the delivery will take place.
If the Nominating Partner is accepting or picking up gifts for delivery, arrange a time for pickupat least 10 days before Christmas. Please make sure that all parties are aware of when and where the gift pickup will take place.
Do I need to include receipts for the gifts?
Please include gift receipts for items like clothing so the adopted family can exchange any items that were purchased in the incorrect size.
I can’t adopt a family, but I still want to contribute or volunteer my time. How can I help?
We always appreciate any contributions or volunteer efforts! Please visit the Contribute page to learn about the various ways you can help.
Are my donations tax deductible?
Yes. Please print out our Donation Receipt. Make sure to save and attach your receipts to the Donation Receipt and retain them for your tax purposes.
Nominating Partners Questions
Our family is in need. We would like to get adopted. Can I nominate myself?
No, you cannot nominate yourself or your family. You must be nominated by a Nominating Partner to be accepted into the CFAF program. Please visit the How to Nominate a Family page for more information.
My family was involved in the program last year. Do I need to have a Nominating Partner apply again?
Yes, please have your Nominating Partner fill out the Nominate a Family registration form. This form includes the Family Wishlist.
I’m a friend of a family in need. Can I nominate them?
You can only nominate a family in need if you are an approved Nominating Partner, who are caseworkers or employees of an approved agency. To become a Nominating Partner or learn how you can connect with a Nominating Partner, please review the How to Nominate a Family page.
The family I nominated wasn't accepted into the program. What could be the reason?
Family profiles must be completed in full (including all sizes, wishlist items, and interests), follow our Wishlist Guidelines, and not include any of the items which are not allowed. Due to the high volume of nominated families, any profiles that do not meet our requirements are automatically declined. If nominations are still open, you are welcome to resubmit a corrected wishlist. If you think a family was denied in error, please reach out to us at info@christmasfamilyadoption.com
I work with a recognized agency or am a caseworker. How do I become an approved Nominating Partner?
If you would like to become an approved Nominating Partner, please review the How to Nominate a Family page and contact us to begin the process.
When do you start accepting nominations?
We begin accepting nominations on October 7th. Please nominate early, as we close nominations once we reach out limit of 775 families (usually in 2-3 weeks).
I’m already an approved Nominating Partner. What do I do next?
Please begin the nomination process by registering to Nominate a Family. This form must be filled out completely for each family you nominate.
