Our Story

In 2002, founder Mike Burright, realized that a local family with two small children wouldn’t have the Christmas every family deserves – unless he stepped in. He asked his family and friends for donations of toys, clothing, and household essentials. Mike wrapped the gifts, put on his Santa suit, and made a special delivery to the family in need.

That year, one family was helped. Two years later, 55 families were helped. Over the years, we have adopted over 4,000 families in the Portland-Metro, Salem and Vancouver area. Drawn to his vision in 2010, colleagues joined Mike to expand the program into a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Our generous volunteers commit their valuable time and resources to raise funds every holiday season. They help manage donations, shop for gifts, wrap presents, and make deliveries in time for Christmas.

We sincerely appreciate the volunteers, agencies, and caseworkers we’ve worked with to help these families in need over the years. We do our best to make both the adoption and nominating process easy for everyone, but we need your help! The Christmas Family Adoption Foundation (CFAF) continues to grow each year. We need Angels to adopt our families and donations more than ever to help make Christmas a time of celebration for our families.
